MackleMore Thanks for the come up

June 2011

Recently, Ynot's intern was putting together a list when she asked him about "Thrift Shop". A confused artist replied, "You mean Thrift Store..."

"No. I mean Thrift Shop....Macklemore." an apprentice on the couch nods as his intern starts singing I'm gonna pop some tags....only got 20 dollars in my pocket...I'm I'm I'm huntin, looking for a come up" as the song on her laptop starts play in tune. Ynot shakes his head and walks into the studio. Intrigued the intern hops off the couch and follows.  The intern stops her laptop's playback as she hears Ynot click to the file.

Thrift Store by Glamourlyke starts playing...

Ynot Asks, "this song isn't new?  Right???"

To which the intern replies, "Macklemore no less than 6 months old....yours yes..."

Ynot shakes his head..."So I guess that would now make me the come up..." smiling he heads back into the studio....Prince isn't the only artist with a vault....

Stay Tuned!!!!

Making Old Music New

Ynot and his recent released ''Lady Killa'' Project.

It's no secret that current popular music is starting to sound the same. The same artists are starting to consistently work together. The same beats are being remixed. The same shallow messages about mindless and questionable activities are being drilled into the ears of listeners.

The industry is falling flat.

Enter up and coming artist, Ynot, former lead singer of Glamourlyke, this six foot chocolate drink of body art has dared to challenge the industry by dropping his mixtape olde school style, DJ Wally Sparks presents... "Lady Killa." On this release you won't hear an over-hyped dj scream his name out like it's more important than the music he's supposed to be promoting. Instead DJ Wally Sparks let's the work speak for itself and we LOVE him for that...#ShoutOUT.

Ynot what inspired you to do "Lady Killa"?
"I was in a group and we all decided to take a break, and I decided I wanted to keep doing music."

Where did this olde school inspiration come from...
"I listen to a lot of old CDs preferably Rick James, Prince, Cameo, The System. Those are the groups I listen to, like it's on the radio now. I listen to new things but lately the game is all starting to sound the same…somethings been lost."

What is Electro Trunk Funk?
It's what DJ Wally decided to name the vibe, the feeling he heard when he was listening to the mix tape. It gave him feelings of back in the days when tapes were sold out of the trunk. Radio DJs were the heart of the community and people lived life through their soundtrack.

One of the comments simply read, "Weirdo" What do you want your music to say to the industry? Are you weird???
These days if you aren't releasing music every 6 months you're not relevant as an artist. What people don't realize is great albums that stand the test of time, take just that... time. This project took 2 years of heartache, setbacks, frustrations, crippling writer's block and finally triumph. Without all of that work, without all of that pain you don't get something that people can feel...and who wants to listen to music that just leaves you cold?

So if you are looking for something warm to groove to...download "Lady Killa" NOW!!!

DJ Wally Sparks Presents.....

DJ Wally Sparks
I am proud to present Antonio Robinson aka YNOT - Lady Killa

....this project from my good friend Antonio Robinson aka YNOT titled "Lady Killa". YNOT's music is what I like to call Electro Trunk Funk. It's heavily influenced by Rick James, Cameo and Prince and mixed together with sounds of 80's new wave and hard Southern rap production. "Lady Killa" is collection of strikingly personal songs all written and produced solely by YNOT and he also played all the instruments!

In addition to his many talents as a musician and producer YNOT is an accomplished tattoo artist and shop owner whose clientele includes Chris Brown, Yelawolf, Jazze Pha, Big K.R.I.T. and many others.

Lady Killa - Mixtape Review

by Nique

Lady Killa is the first studio album by American vocal artist Ynot, released on January 10, 2013 by DJ Wally Sparks on DatPiff.com.  Ynot is former lead singer of the hip hop trio Glamourlyke.  "Candy" is the first single to get video treatment.

Lady Killa represents a departure for Ynot's previous work with Glamourlyke. In an interview Ynot says, "I wanted to recreate a sound that represented the quality and vibe you got with Prince and Rick James just more up to date. I mean you can't do it exactly like they would have done it - then it wouldn't be me."

So what can we expect from the Lady Killa?  Similar to Kanye West 808s and Heartbreak, Ynot deftly delivers vocals that can't be categorized as being straight rapping nor are they simply sung.  He's a singer/rapper in Drake mode, looking to show these new artists how you make classic music that lasts the test of time.  Musically those with deft ears will hear the influence of the G-Funk, smoothed out with R&B rifts that make you think of Cameo (for you yungins think Outkast) with a taste of a hard rock guitar style.

See Ynot knows he's good...real good....he's just decided to let the world know how good good really is...DOWNLOAD NOW!!!!
